The second part emphasizes programming in the context of a DATA step, in macros, and in SAS/IML software. Additionally, I have used JMP, SAS For example, some of my data mining projects with SAS Enterprise Miner or JMP could be completed in a few days. For example, in a data step, this code is working : DATA _NULL_ Most things can be done within base SAS, without doing serious programming in the macro language beyond avoiding repetitive code. For example: “Within five years, I would like to become one of the best SAS Programmer in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Personally, I think SAS is a wonderful application, with my SAS experience starting in SAS programming back in 1989 (mainframes, along with Fortran), SAS Enterprise Guide (I wrote SAS for Dummies, the first two editions with Chris Hemedinger) and SAS Enterprise Miner. Real-life Examples I have created several of these keyboard macros, mostly for the purpose of recalling the parameters required for macros that I have written as well as their location to include in the SAS program. It is true that SAS programmers can work with arrays, but this is actually a computational sleight of hand. See slides 36 through 45 for an example of SAS code with a very clear PowerPoint animation of how this all works. The key is to focus on your achievable objectives and what you are doing to reach those objectives. Few people know that SAS provides some constant function for mathematical values: constant(constant<,parameter>).
